Groundskeeper
FT, Immediate Hire
PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. The GROUNDSKEEPER will be required to perform a variety of duties from uncomplicated to moderately difficult both inside and outside the PAL-CON, Ltd. facility as they relate to equipment, vehicles, buildings, and grounds.
The GROUNDSKEEPER will be responsible for the cleanliness of the shop floors; emptying the trash receptacles; ensuring the essential paper products and soaps are in the rest rooms and at the hand wash stations in the absence of a cleaning person; detailing vehicles, trailers, and other equipment as assigned; mowing and trimming the grounds as necessary; picking up and disposing of roadside debris; routinely treating the fountain water; and other tasks as assigned. He/she must have some mechanical ability, be able to work with others, be able to communicate well, be able to take direction (written and verbal) well, and be willing to learn. The GROUNDSKEEPER should be familiar with the methods, practices, tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and safety procedures necessary to utilize, apply, and/or implement in the course of performing his/her assigned tasks. The GROUNDSKEEPER must possess the ability to perform each essential function of the position. He/she must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, must be flexible, and must be able to work independently. The GROUNDSKEEPER may be required to change his/her focus on a minute’s notice. The GROUNDSKEEPER must be proactive and must be able to perform basic math calculations and read, comprehend, and interpret specifications and directions. The GROUNDSKEEPER must be organized, cooperative, and attentive to details; he/she must be able to multi-task and use time wisely.
The GROUNDSKEEPER must have relevant former job experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; effective communication skills are required. The GROUNDSKEEPER may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and bend for extended periods of time in awkward positions in varying types of environments. He/she must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and appropriate insurance. He/she must understand, write, speak, and read English. The GROUNDSKEEPER will report directly to the Maintenance Manager. He/she must follow the proper chain of command.
The GROUNDSKEEPER’s rate of pay is negotiable based upon his/her experience. The shop’s standard work hours are 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday; however, as production requirements change, this position’s hours may vary as well. This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period.
