PAL-CON, Ltd. specializes in manufacturing and servicing natural gas turbine Regenerators and auxiliary equipment as well as providing hydrovac excavation services.
This is a full-time on-site role in Stephenville, Texas, for a Maintenance Technician/Assistant. This Maintenance position will be responsible for performing routine equipment, machinery, and vehicle maintenance; facility and building maintenance; and performing other general maintenance tasks ranging from basic to complex. This position must be familiar with the methods, practices, tools, equipment, material, and safety procedures used in the repair and maintenance of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
Specifically, the Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining and/or servicing hydrovac trucks and associated equipment, various tools, overhead cranes, water jets (including chillers and ROs), abrasive blasting and paint booths, hydrogen brazing furnace, welders, presses, shears, brakes, lifts, trucks, and trailers as well as the building, aerobic septic systems, and surrounding grounds. The Maintenance Department is responsible for being cost conscious, effective, and efficient. The Maintenance Department ensures all tools and associated items are in working order and ensures the necessary supplies are on hand; they may also provide training on the proper operation of all equipment, tools, and vehicles.
This position requires a high degree of technical and mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, exceptional time management skills, strong interpersonal skills, and physical characteristics to perform the essential functions of the job. The Maintenance Technician/Assistant may be required to change focus with a moment’s notice; he/she must take direction well and follow directions without deviation. He/she must possess the ability, desire, and motivation to learn and progress in a challenging environment; he/she must be organized, cooperative, and able to multi-task; he/she must be able to take and maintain accurate records. The Maintenance Technician/Assistant must be able to perform basic to advanced math calculations; troubleshoot and solve problems; provide ad hoc engineering services; read, comprehend, and interpret specifications and directions; and read, comprehend, and interpret various equipment and facility related schematics. He/she must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, internet, and email. The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will be required to keep all he/she is privy to in strict confidence; his/her commitment to PAL-CON, Ltd.’s success is expected.
The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT must have five (5) years’ strong manufacturing mechanical experience. A college or technical school degree is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is required. The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will be required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladder, and bend for extended periods of time in awkward positions in varying environments. He/she must possess a valid state’s driver’s license and appropriate insurance. He/she must understand, speak, read, and write English. The MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT will report directly to the Maintenance Manager; he/she may work closely with the production superintendents. He/she must follow the proper chain of command.
The standard work hours are 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday; however, this position’s hours will vary. This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period.
Qualifications • Experience in equipment maintenance, vehicle maintenance, facilities maintenance, and preventive maintenance • Effective communication skills • Ability to work independently on-site in Stephenville, Texas, or on a project site • Experience working in a metal fabrication or automotive repair facility is a plus • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is beneficial • Prior experience with hydrovac equipment is a plus
