PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. We also provide engineering, fabrication, and installation services for clients. The MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER will be required to perform a variety of duties from moderately difficult to complex to aid in the timely, efficient, and accurate design of products manufactured/fabricated to specifications necessary to meet our clients' needs.

The MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER will be required to apply physics, engineering, and design principles to designing mechanical systems and devices. Engineered products may include turbine exhaust ducting, exhaust silencers, support structures, and piping. Designs may include flexible metal products (i.e. bellows and expansion joints) in accordance with requirements and applicable codes. He/she may work closely with sales, engineers, production, purchasing, and quality personnel. He/she will be required to gain an understanding of the scope and requirements of a project. He/she may be required to use both manual drawing skills as well as computer-aided applications to design and produce drawings of fabricated metal components. He/she may assist with or be responsible for the creation of new products and designs; the revision of existing products and designs; the creation, review, and/or modification of prints and BOMs; and the provision of installation support for projects. He/she will be required to perform various data analyses. He/she will be required to interpret verbal instructions and translate them into realistic drawings. He/she will have access to multi-dimensional printing capabilities.

The MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER must possess a mechanical engineering degree from an accredited college, maintain a working knowledge of existing industrial processes and emerging technologies, have above average analytical and problem-solving abilities, be able to work well in a group setting or independently, follow written and verbal instructions without deviation, be able to prioritize, be highly detail oriented and critically minded, take and retain detailed notes and accurate records, be reliable and flexible, and be able to change his/her focus at a moment's notice. He /she will be expected to become familiar with the materials used and components manufactured at PAL-CON, Ltd. He/she must be able to work with all levels of personnel within PAL-CON, Ltd., our vendors, and our clients. Metal processing (machining, forming, welding, assembling) experience will be beneficial.

The MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER may be required to sit or stand for lengthy periods of time. He/she must be able to operate standard office equipment, be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and be proficient with email and chat platforms. He/she must be able to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and coworkers; communications may include written formal reports and business correspondences as well as internal correspondences. He/she must have experience with AutoCAD; experience with SAP, Alibre and Solid Works will be a plus.

The MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER's dedication to the success of PAL-CON, Ltd. is necessary as is his/her ability to keep all matters relating to PAL-CON, Ltd. in strict confidence is mandatory. Two years' experience as a mechanical design engineer in a manufacturing setting is required; experience with structural design, piping, air flows, heat exchangers, and power generation equipment is preferred. He/she must possess a valid state's driver's license and appropriate insurance. He/she will be required to follow the proper chain of command.

The MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER's rate of pay is negotiable based upon his/her experience. PAL-CON, Ltd. offers competitive wages and benefits. The standard work hours are 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM, Monday through Thursday; however, as production requirements change, this position's hours will vary as well. This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period.
